Fresh Designs for 2022 inspired by William Morris
Countryside. Hand painted in acrylics and oils on canvas, 33"x33", and framed. Private commission.

A commission piece, with a specified limited palette of muted greens incorporating elements of the customers surrounding countryside.
Taking inspiration from William Morris as requested I came up with this free flowing design to suit the criteria, a piece of art that wasn't something I normally do. An enjoyable piece to create, involving research on local area nature and trials on colours while attempting to retain a feeling of William Morris. This painting, once complete, inspired me to try more nature designs based on some of my favourite haunts and a few suggested topics. I found that these designs can be created to suit almost any subject as there are so many plants and elements of nature that are associated with a wide variety of topics.
Let's have a look at some of the latest paintings that stem from this.
Avebury Stone Circle.
Hand painted in oils and acrylics on canvas.
A fun design depicting a stone circle with plants, birds and insects associated with the site. An area that I frequent often.
Lydiard Park.
Hand painted in oils and acrylics on canvas.
Another area so close to home that I call it my back garden, Lydiard Park. The design incorporates elements of the park and the flowing vines reflect Lydiard House and St Mary's church that also resides on the grounds, one of my all time favourite places to visit.

Plants of the Devil.
Hand painted in oils and acrylics on canvas.
Whilst researching plants and wildlife associated with my designs I came across an interesting book listing plants and wildlife associated with the devil including fables and English folklore which inspired me to follow on to see if there were nature elements associated with ghosts or the supernatural.

Ghosts.
Hand painted in oils and acrylics on canvas.
There certainly are many plants and wildlife associated with ghosts and spirits all incorporated amongst a skull like vine formation.
All in all these designs were great fun to create and through the research I learned more about the area where I live plus fascinating insight into other various topics.
